The annual fundraiser was created to inspire social investment and entrepreneurship by pairing high school students from disadvantaged communities with top tier media and technology companies in Los Angeles. More than 350 people came out to Penmar Park where 10 of LA’s most innovative companies competed for the 2017 softball tournament title. Attendees also included 100 students from the YBA program and Tom Bilyeu, the world-renowned American entrepreneur, motivational speaker, and co-founder of Quest Nutrition, who was keynote speaker of the summit.
“We are intentionally disrupting socioeconomic barriers at the Youth Business Alliance,” said Marques, a YBA board member since 2014 and member of Cushman & Wakefield’s Future Leaders program.
“Our students are the top-performing students in underserved areas around Los Angeles and by connecting LA’s most innovative media and technology companies with the YBA students, we are able to systematically manufacture growth, inspiration, and perspective to students who have limited exposure to the new age of business. This fundraiser is an excellent reflection of the firm’s diversity initiative. We believe that reinvesting in the future of our youth is paramount to the advancement of our collective society. We aim to inspire others to do the same in their communities.”
