Wilshire Grand Center in Downtown L.A.
LOS ANGELES, April 24, 2017 – Cushman & Wakefield has signed a long-term lease at the world-class Wilshire Grand Center, a 2.1-million-square-foot commercial development in the heart of Downtown Los Angeles. The global real estate services firm will occupy the 24th and 25th floors at the newest and most prominent skyscraper in the Downtown Los Angeles skyline.
With an anticipated move-in date in early October 2017, Cushman & Wakefield’s new workplace will house 200 employees. Designed to elevate employee health, happiness, mindfulness and productivity, the space will be certified by the WELL Building Standard™ and will achieve LEED Gold certification by the U.S. Green Building Council. Design features will include a dramatic two-story atrium, interconnecting stairs, a large café on the perimeter, open collaboration areas, and 360-degree views of the city. The space is being designed by acclaimed design studio Aref & Associates.
“Our decision to move to the Wilshire Grand Center was all about our employees. Being able to take a full year to study the flow of each of our service lines and then match those needs with technology, wellness and some whimsy has already given our office a wonderful boost of energy,” said Andrew McDonald, Cushman & Wakefield’s Regional Managing Principal for Los Angeles and Orange County. “We grew by 30% last year and we are on pace to continue that growth for the balance of 2017. With that type of growth and need for new space, we were provided with the opportunity to ask ourselves not only what we want to look like but also how we want our design to inspire the unique culture we have created.”
Developed by owner Hanjin International Corp., which is an affiliate of Korean Air, and local architecture firm A.C. Martin Partners, the newly constructed high-rise is the tallest building west of the Mississippi River with a height of 1,100 feet. The distinctive tower is topped by a stainless steel spire.
In addition to the office portion of Wilshire Grand Center, the property will house a luxury four-star hotel by InterContinental Hotels Group with 900 state-of-the-art rooms on floors 31 through 69. It will also include outdoor plazas, meeting rooms, a rooftop pool, an open sky deck bar, and over 45,000 square feet of restaurant and retail space. The project is slated for completion in June 2017.
Spanning an entire 2.8-acre city block bordered by Wilshire Boulevard, Seventh Street, South Figueroa Street, and Francisco Streets at 900 Wilshire Blvd., the tower’s central location offers immediate access to the Seventh Street Metro Station, the FIGat7th shopping center, and numerous lifestyle amenities emerging from the cultural renaissance occurring within Downtown L.A.
John C. Cushman, III, Chairman of Global Transactions, said he was proud to be one of the early pioneers to harness the redevelopment of Downtown Los Angeles.
“As we celebrate our centennial year, Cushman & Wakefield is proud of the role the firm has played as the dominate force in the development, leasing and management of the most important office buildings in the financial and business core of Los Angeles since the opening of our first office in Southern California in the fall of 1967,” Mr. Cushman said. “Wilshire Grand Center will soon be in the ranks of the most important and iconic buildings in America.”
John C. Cushman, III and Steve Marcussen serve as exclusive office leasing agents for Wilshire Grand Center. Cushman & Wakefield also provides management and engineering services for the property.
